Creekside Collaborative
Web Design Process
A successful website turns site visitors into customers, and a lot goes on behind the scenes to make this happen. Everyone has their own variation on the theme. Here’s how it works at Creekside.
Step 1
Research
What goals do you have for the site? What do you want your visitors to do when they visit?
How can we make you stand out from your competitors?
Who is your audience? What do they want?
What special functionalities, such as event registration, or newsletter integration, will you want on the site?
These are just a few of the questions we’ll wrestle with during the research phase.
Step 1
Research
Step 2
Planning
Step 2
Planning
During the planning phase, we work out what pages and sections your site will need to convey the necessary message to your clients. Depending on the complexity of the project, we can offer professional project management services. We will determine which plugins or possible extra coding and functionality you’ll need. We will make a site map and document the full scope and cost of the project.
Step 3
Design
During the design phase, we’ll create a wireframe, or basic mock-up of your site, and explore the functionality from the perspective of your various customers. We’ll also come up with a visual style that will appeal to your audience. Are you advertising a ballet? A site to sell used tires? Visual style makes a big difference.

Step 4
Content
Step 4
Content
Content is really the heart of your site. What do you want to say to your audience with your words and pictures? Some clients are fully prepared with content, while others are more comfortable letting us do the writing and imagery. It’s up to you!
Step 5
Development
This is where we get down to the nuts and bolts of building your site. We build exclusively in WordPress using a theme that allows for custom design. Additonal functionality and design can be added with custom coding and plugins.

Step 6
Testing
Step 6
Testing
We’ll install your new site on a test server where you and your team can try it out. We’ll look for any bugs and make certain it is working across platforms and browsers. We’ll also take another look at whether the site meets the goals we set out in the beginning.
Step 7
Deployment
In the deployment phase, the new site will go live on your server and be connected to your domain. We’ll monitor your site and deal with any issues that arise.

Deployment
Step 8
Training/Maintenance
Step 8
Training/Maintenance
Lastly, every WordPress site needs maintenance: security updates, content updates, backups, etc. Depending on your needs, we can train you to maintain the site yourself for the long term, or we can get you set up on one of Creekside’s affordable maintenance plans.
